Board of Academic Advisors
Members of the Board of Academic Advisors are in office for at least two years and provide the experience to support MSFL with its efforts to sustain academic excellence for both events organized and media/content published. We strive for having the board change as rarely as possible.

Prof. Dr. Michael WohlgemuthProfessor of Political Economy at the University of Witten/Herdecke (Germany)
Michael Wohlgemuth is an economist and Director of Open Europe Berlin. He is also Professor of Political Economy at the University of Witten/Herdecke. Wohlgemuth has been Professor of International Governance at the University in Bayreuth, Managing Research Associate at the Walter Eucken Institut (Freiburg), lecturer at the Universities of Freiburg, Erfurt, Friedrichshafen, and Witten/Herdecke, Research Fellow at the Max-Planck-Institute for Economics in Jena, Affiliate Assistant Professor at George Mason University and New York University and “Friedrich August von Hayek-Professor” at the University of Innsbruck.
His main research areas and publications are in the fields of New Institutional Economics, Austrian Economics, Public Choice Theory, and the History of Ideas. His policy recommendations lie mainly in the field of European integration.
Prof. Dr. Erich WeedeProfessor emer. of Sociology at the University of Bonn (Germany)
Erich Weede taught sociology at the University of Bonn until his retirement in fall 2004. He earned academic degrees in psychology and political science. In 1982/83 he was president of the Peace Science Society (International), and in 1985/86 was vice-president of the International Studies Association. He has produced 11 books and more than 200 other publications in German or English.
His topics include the causes and prevention of war, the rise and decline of nations, Asian civilizations, the invention of capitalism, the spread of economic freedom, economic growth, and income inequality. His books include Economic Development, Social Order and World Politics (Lynne Rienner, 1996) andThe Balance of Power, Globalization, and the Capitalist Peace (for the Friedrich-Naumann Foundation, Liberal Verlag, 2005).
Prof. Dr. Boudewijn BouckaertProfessor of Law at the University of Ghent (Belgium)
Boudewijn Bouckaert is a Belgian law professor, a member of the Flemish Movement, and a libertarian conservative thinker and politician. He chairs the academic board of the LIB-ERA! think tank and he is also a former president of the Belgian classical liberal think tank Nova Civitas.
Boudewijn Bouckaert holds a PhD and teaches at the Law School of the University of Ghent, the University of Paris and the University of Aix-Marseille. He is director of the Department of Legal Theory and History at Ghent University and was chairperson of the European Master in Law and Economicsprogram.
He has been lecturer at the Institute for Humane Studies in Fairfax, Virginia, at the Institute for Economic Studies in Paris, France and also a visitor at Harvard University. He used to sit on the Belgian High Council for Judicial Matters and was chairman of the Land Management Committee. He is also a member of the international free-market group Mont Pelerin Society.
Clemens SchneiderManaging Director at Prometheus – Das Freiheitsinstitut Clemens Schneider, born in 1980, works on his PhD on the English historian Lord Acton and his notion of liberty. He co-founded the educational project “Agora” Summer Academy and the blog “Offene Grenzen” (“Open Borders”). From 2011 to 2014 he held a scholarship by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and held responsible positions there organizing several seminars and conferences. He is active as blogger and speaker and is in constant contact with the young members of the pro-liberty movement.
